If you ask anyone who’s picky about skincare they’ll let you know how important it is to have a skincare routine. With everything in life, consistency is key and having flawless skin is no exception. In fact, many people believe that a proper skin care routine is the single most important thing you can do for a clear complexion.

Here are our list of the ultimate morning skin care routines.

Step one: Workout.

We know that you don’t want to wake up hours earlier than normal, but getting your blood pumping in the morning is extremely important for great skin. When you work out your body is benefitted with proper circulation. Also getting your heart rate up is a great way to get a healthy glow that lasts for hours. So instead of hitting snooze, put your running shoes on!

Step Two: Drink Water.

I love to slam the coffee down when I first get up, but for great skin, try downing a large glass of water instead. If you’ve read our blog before you know that getting proper hydration is essential for great skin. When you drink water first thing in the morning you’re jump starting your metabolism and setting yourself up for perfect skin.

Step Three: Wash-Up.

Washing your face in the morning and especially after you workout is a great way to wash away the bacteria that has been hanging out on your face all night. Also washing up is a great way to wash away makeup residue. Get a gentle oil-based cleanser that matches your skin type and wash up!

Step Four: Exfoliate.

After you wash up you don’t want any dead skin cells clogging up your pores. Get a basic washcloth and run it under some warm water. Then rub the washcloth on your face in circles from your nose to your temples and everywhere in between.

Step Five: Rinse.

Make sure that after you exfoliate you rinse off any dead skin cells. Make sure that you are getting rid of anything left behind from your exfoliation. You can even use very gentle cleanser to make sure you didn’t miss anything. However, make sure after you use the cleanser to properly rise off.

Step Six: Tone.

If you’re like me and you suffer from oily skin then this step is especially for you. Make sure that you apply an alcohol-free toner to help balance your skin so you stop overproducing oils. Regardless of your skin type, this is a very important step. Make sure to choose a formula that has a lot of Vitamin E.

Also, make sure you don’t miss your neck and you never scrub at your face when you apply the toner.

Step Seven: SPF.

The sun leaves us with blotches wrinkles and lines. Even on an overcast day, you should be applying at least 15 SPF to your face. Just rub the sunscreen in your hand and gently press the sunscreen onto your face and neck.

While sunscreen won’t help prevent pimples or breakouts, your older self will be happy that you didn’t skip this step.
